It’s bizarre that with so many reasons to pick holes in this song, the YouTube Hater Brigade decides that the imaginatively-titled JP is ugly (he’s really not). Surely they could point to the fact that the lip-synching is out; or the general lack of originality; or JP’s lack of vocal strength; or the random bursts of Auto Tune; or the lyrics… You get the message. In fact, you could dissect this song all day long, but actually, it’s quite a sweet number, with decent production. JP’s heart is certainly in the right place, it’s just a shame that it doesn’t feel polished enough – and, of course, virtually all debut singles possess a steep learning curve. But as was the case with Kalum’s “Up & Away” with a bit of extra work, and a few less Yes Men, this could have been a lot better.
