A far superior offering to her bland first single, this time around “Rush” capitalises on a stunning instrumental with an unrelenting, visceral repetive energy. Veronica barely utters a whisper – the chorus is nine letters long – but she advisedly leaves the hard slog to the beat. It’s only real downfall is that it’s so sparse that there isn’t quite enough to sing along to, but hey, she looks cute in headphones. It would be nice, however, to one day hear Veronica be allowed to let loose from that surpressed vocal effect, and just belt out the R&B banger she’s entirely capable of. For now, though, “Rush” is a guilty pleasure.
